[/tp]

[tp not_in= »fr »] It is as a true expert and leader of the digestive tract that Johnson & Johnson pushes the doors of the food supplements market with his Probiotic Imoflora. After Belgium, Italy, Germany, Imoflora recently hit the market in French pharmacies to relieve 17 millions of French affected by intestinal infections. A well known problem of Johnson & Johnson Created in 1993, Imo® range and Imodium medicine® sits at the first place in the market of anti-diarrheal products. With their first food supplement, their range is now complete.

At the heart of Imoflora : more than 1 billion of Bifidobacterium BB-12, a main probiotic strain of Chr Hansen counting more than 300 scientific publications. Johnson & Johnson has selected this specific strain for its resistance to gastric acidity, its stability and its good capacity of adhesion to the intestinal mucosa. In shot: a simple and effective formula that aims to restore the instestinal flora and prevent new imbalances. In an era of nomadism, Imoflora takes the form of chewable tablets making it easy to have it with you at all times.

Thus, it’s the first attempt for this pharmaceutical giant to tackle two markets, food supplements and probiotics, with a single product.

With 386 million euros of profit(?) in 2013, it’s important to note that digestive health products represent the 3rd category OTC in pharmacies after respiratory tract and analgesics. Moreover, the sale of Probiotics represents a market of over 50 million euros and registered a growth of 12% in 2013. Despite regulatory constraints in Europe, this launch confirms that probiotics are needed a little more everyday on nutrition and health markets.
